Definition

  • A test that returns a value, either numeric (integer or float), or a string value.

Note

    Example

    • A test may return a string value, for example by computing a hash for a digital object
    • A test may return any floating point number, for example by measuring the temperature or the number of days that a service has not been operational
    • A test may return an integer value, for example by ranking a specific instance against its peers, or returning the HTTP status code for an HTTP request
